Today, Love is Love is Love

Massachusetts, it’s happening! You are going to be married. Today. I can scarcely breathe. I am so happy. That you can finally be given the right by law to love each other is proof that we are becoming truly America the Beautiful. Congratulations, something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue.

The human heart cannot be denied. Will never be silenced. Will beat louder and louder until it deafens the ears of those who refuse to listen to the truth.

Love is love is love.

Here’s a report from Neal Gaffey at Boston City Hall:

I just witnessed the issuance of a Marriage License to Julie and Hillary Goodridge at the Registry Window here at Boston City Hall. The hall where the service windows are is on two levels, with one looking over the other. There were literally hundreds of press people in the room, on both levels, from all over the world, including places in Asia, CBC, BBC, some German and French TV networks as well. While they were filling out the license, Mayor Menino, standing by their side, gestured to their daughter to join them. When they were through filling out the paperwork, the clerk shook their hands, the three of them turned around, one held up the license, shook the Mayor’s hand and the room broke into applause. The emotional high of being in that room at the time was something that I was not prepared for in the least. Outside on City Hall Plaza, the vast majority were people in support of the couples getting married.

There was a very small, almost insignificant group of counter-demonstrators holding crosses and references to Jesus and Mary etc. I kind of felt bad for them.

Have something to add?
