Call To Arms

“Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.”

So if we play the consensually agreed upon societal roles, deny our voice and acquiesce to a kind of resigned weakness, let the powerful and mighty have their way, support the exploitation of our rights and freedoms and raise no voice in opposition, then we, the meek, will inherit the world.

Then, by default, since all the powers no longer have to concern themselves with the meek, they will strike
against each other and virtually and violently self
destruct, leaving us with an empty shell of a world,
bombed out like a house with broken windows about to
collapse in on itself. What kind of inheritance is that? It’s a pitiful dowry, a worthless and dusty heirloom that nobody wants. What good does it do to inherit the earth, when the earth will no longer be worth anything?

The hotly argued Holy Scriptures has inconsistencies, and was used to affect the political landscape of the time, thus co-opting the Word of God into a kind of propaganda. I believe this passage has been used to silence the voices of the meek, the outsiders, the visionaries, who had not the strength to come forward with their new ideas. and the verse is still used to calm the masses. Let them watch their reality shows in peace. Let them think that since they are meek, they shall inherit the earth, for Jesus told them so. Let them calm themselves into believing that they need do nothing.

But I don’t believe that is what Jesus meant.. The meek will inherit the earth, but not because of their inherent meekness, but because they have been persecuted and struck down for so long. They can no longer be considered meek – for if they have had to defend themselves, they forfeit their meekness and become accidental warriors. The meek are the new army of the world, the meek are at odds with themselves, for they do not wish to see blood in the streets, so they will fight quickly to make sure that few lives are lost in this transition. The meek must become the brutal forces they despise in order to inherit what is rightly theirs.

We shall inherit the earth, for the Bible tells us so.
