Note from Team Cho: Margaret’s still on vacation. This entry is from T, the team’s newest member.
Belief systems are an undying sport. All over the globe wars and conflicts abound in the name of religion and principle. We are living in perilous times. The strongholds of war and hate must come down. Our struggle is not against flesh and blood but against principalities. This war is not about the Bush administration nor Saddam Hussein, it is about EVIL. Evil is not a person, evil is a principle. You cannot smoke evil out of a cave. Evil is obliterated by the light of truth, not missiles and bombs.
Our struggle is not about bi-partisanship, patriotism and cultural traditions. Our struggle is about rulers of darkness in this world and wickedness in high places. The slogan “in God we trust” is embedded in American currency, it doesn’t read “in bombs we trust.” Trusting in God is victimless. No one has ever died from trusting in God. Wars have been waged in the name of God. Laws have been written in the name of God. I can’t speak for God, but I think God is fully capable of fighting God’s own battles. God does not need a hero.
Make no mistake, the earth is the lord’s. Whatever or whoever causes the sun to rise and the plants to grow will remain to be the lord of hosts. We are guests on this planet. No one will have permanent residency on this planet, no matter how much real estate they have. After death a persons property and wealth will become someone else’s inheritance.
We have another opportunity to reconstruct reality today. Politics didn’t create people, people created politics. We the PEOPLE are capable of creating an environment where love and joy abound. I once heard a bible passage from the book of psalms (verse 46:10): “be still and know that I am God.” Maybe some day the people who are fighting and killing in God’s name will take heed to that verse and drop their guns for a moment of peace and calm. -T
