Who we'd bring to a desert island.

AFTER MUCH UNSCIENTIFIC and lustful soul-searching, we bring you an annotated list of 10 of the most desirable people in the San Francisco Bay Area. There were thousands of people we left out, since this is a pretty sexy region. We chose these 10 because they are hot as hell, and also because they are practically archetypes of the kinds of foxy people you meet everyday in the city and greater Bay Area.

What makes these people sexy? Everything: looks, brains, accomplishments, politics, and most of all, that ineffable quality known as charisma.

Margaret Cho

There's a point during comedian Margaret Cho's recent film, I'm the One That I Want (available on pay-per-view June 2), when she describes the harrowing ordeal Hollywood TV executives put her through for being too "round" for their tastes. Well, the thought of these empty suits cowering in fear at Cho's lush feminine figure just about makes us wanna kill them or vomit or kill them with our vomit. (Oops, sorry. We forgot we were supposed to be sexy here!) Cho's been a fixture of the stand-up scene for the better part of a decade, and her humor while dealing with topics like race and sex is candid, fearless, insightful, and of course, hilarious. But fuck all that – we've always thought she was dead sexy for the simple fact that, after the bout of self-doubt she experienced while dealing with the scenario described above, she has reconnected with her inner hotness and doesn't give a pig's ass what others think, a key ingredient to sexiness. (Unlike other comedians we won't name ... oh fuck it, like Janeane Garofalo, who is cute but can spend an hour talking about how hideous she is ... yawn ...) Margaret rocks our world.
