Cho Dependent screens in SF: Margaret to receive the Frameline Award

We are excited to announce that Margaret’s new concert film, “Cho Dependent,” will be screening at the Frameline in San Francisco on Sunday, June 19th! Filmed during a live performance at the Tabernacle in Atlanta, GA, “Cho Dependent” features Margaret’s uncensored uproarious views on sex, drugs, and rock & roll. Margaret skewers the Palins, Dancing with the Stars, “sexting,” her beloved mother, online porn, and marijuana in a gut busting performance of all new stand up and comedy songs from her Grammy-nominated album, “Cho Dependent.”

This year they are honoring Margaret with the prestigious Frameline Award, which is given every year to a person or entity that has made a major contribution to LGBT representation in film, television, or the media arts. From the organizers:

Comedian, actor, author, activist, and all-around entertainer Margaret Cho has described herself as many things throughout her career but perhaps none more than “outsider.” It is likely this identity of outcast that has made Ms. Cho a loud and proud spokesperson for gays and lesbians, bisexuals and transgender folks, fag hags and feminists, Asian nerds and drag queens.

For all that she has done for the queers of the world, and all she will undoubtedly continue to do, we are proud to honor Margaret Cho with this year’s Frameline Award.

Stay tuned, we’ll be announcing TV/DVD release plans for “Cho Dependent,” as well as screenings in a few other US cities soon!
